Especially for the Independence Day, our team created a shopper with a special ornament. Here is a variation of Ukrainian embroidery based on a preserved woven towel from Podillia, which dates back to the first half of the twentieth century.
The meaning of ornaments
Ukrainians have long encoded various symbols into embroidery to protect the wearer with amulets and give them strength. Let’s find out what we have encoded for you in this set.
Woman
Our ancestors have long used the female silhouette as a symbol of fertility, procreation and grace. The figure with arms raised in the air was especially revered, as it signified the beginning of something new.
Male.
For the sake of parity and to depict the multifaceted nature of life, the family, and thus the man, was also embroidered. The image of an oak tree was equivalent to the male image, which gave Ukrainian men strength and courage.
Trident
The symbolism of the coat of arms reflects the combination of three forces or phenomena (trinity) that constitute the basis of life in the faith. The ancient interpretation of the trinity was later replaced by the Christian one about the unity of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The ancient interpretation of the Trinity was later replaced by the Christian one of the unity of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We decided to make the ornament more complex, adding male courage, and, of course, the national strength – the trident 🇺🇦
Where to start?
The special “Magic” of the set is in the super sticker with an embroidery pattern on it. Here are the tips on how to use them.
Stickers
Simply take the sticker, separate it from the adhesive backing and apply it to the fabric (don’t forget to smooth it out by hand)
Vyshiy
Start creating! We recommend embroider the ornament in 3 threads: take a flagellum about 40-45 cm long and divide it into two, 3 threads in a bundle.
Get it wet
When everything is ready, put the finished product in warm water, massaging the places where the sticker is attached, or simply wash it in the washing machine in the delicate cycle (we recommend the second option)
Dry
Done! Just dry your work and you’re ready to wear it!
